The Sea of Galilee

This evening I am thinking about the Sea of Galilee. On Sunday morning one of our elders preached about two miracles that happened on the Sea of Galilee and since then I have been having good memories of my two visits there.

Sea to Sea in Israel, Mediterranean Sea to Sea of Galilee, Boat on GalileeThis is one of the first pictures that I took of the Sea of Galilee. This was taken shortly after we arrived after traveling from Sea to Sea. We had started the day at the Mediterranean Sea and visited sites along the way to Tiberias.

A couple days later we would take a trip on a boat like the one shown in the picture.

Sunrise on the Sea of Galilee, Tiberias, Galilee, SunriseThere was a beautiful sunrise the next morning. After a good breakfast we headed out to tour the area North of Galilee. During the day we visited some of the sources of the Jordan River. Click on the link to learn more about the area.

Boat on Sea of Galilee, Boat Ride, Sea of TiberiasThe next day was our cruise on the Sea of Galilee. I shared this picture in my post Galilee Sea. The picture here is of the boat as it was pulling up to the dock at our hotel. We had a wonderful time cruising along the shore and seeing sites where Jesus spoke to the multitudes. After the cruise we visited a museum that had the remains of a boat from the first century. You can see a picture of the boat in the Galilee Sea post.

Tiberias, Sea of Galilee, Night Lights, Sea to SeaThis picture is from the trip that I took to Israel last year to participate in an archaeological dig at Lachish. After the dig was over we took a tour through Israel. We spent two nights near the Sea of Galilee.

The first night was spent in a hostel at the north end of the sea. The hostel had a private beach and my friend Luke and I waded out into the sea and relaxed while the sun slowly set over the hills. I took this picture after we had come back to shore. You can see the lights of Tiberias reflecting in the placid waters of the sea.

Since we had traveled from the Mediterranean Sea to the Sea of Galilee that day I wrote a post that evening titled: Sea to Sea II

Sea of Galilee, Overhead view of Sea of Galilee, Poryia Youth Hostel, GalileeThe next night we stayed at Poria which is up in the hills overlooking the Sea of Galilee. From the patio area we could see the entire body of water laid out before us. This gave us a very nice perspective and really helped me understand the geography of the area.

I was going to share one more picture. However, since most of my posts have five pictures in them I decided to just give you a link . The picture above is in my post North of Galilee II. In the post there is also a picture that I took a little bit later as the sun was setting. If you like the pictures above you will want to see it also.

Do you know what miracles were performed on the Sea of Galilee?
