Monthly Archives: January 2016

A Busy January

The month is drawing to a close and I am looking back over a busy January.

The month began with me going Back to London. I had made a quick trip there just before Christmas and I had to go again to visit more customers.

Audley's Wood Hotel, Basingstoke, Hand Picked Hotels, Jane AustenFor most of my trip I stayed at the Audleys Wood Hotel in Basingstoke. Definitely a beautiful place to stay.

Steventon Church, Jane Austen, Hampshire, RectorBasingstoke is in the middle of Jane Austen Country, so I was able to visit the church where here father served in Steventon when she was born and also the house where she lived near the end of her life. You can read more about these places in my post Jane Austen Country.

Pembroke College, Cambridge University, Library, Pembroke LibraryI also spent a night in Cambridge and was able to make A Visit to Pembroke College where one of my ancestors went to school.

It was then time to head home, but I only had enough time to go Home to Repack and then it was Back to the Airport the next morning.

I Arrived in Shanghai less than 48 hours after I left London. I arrived just in time to get some sleep before being in a classroom all week.

Chinese Soup, Chicken Feet, Noodles, Chinese FoodBeing in China meant a lot of great meals. I like real Chinese Food. It is much better than what you get at your typical Chinese restaurant in the US. However, you do run into some interesting food.

Shanghai Pudong, Pudong Skyline, Pudong at Night, Tallest skyscrapersOn the weekend I was able to do a little sight seeing including a good look at one of the most impressive Skylines in the world.

After almost two weeks in Shanghai it was time to go home. However, it was right back in the classroom for a week with only one full day at the office to prepare for the class.

I am really looking forward to tomorrow when I can finally start getting caught up with things at work. However, it is only a short respite as I will be working on several major projects the rest of the week.

At least February is a short month, but not as short as usual.

Dark Chocolate Raspberry CupCakes

With Valentine’s Day rapidly approaching Hostess has come out with some new limited edition CupCakes.  They have been out for some time, but with my travel schedule I didn’t see them in the store until last weekend.

Dark Chocolate Raspberry CupCakes, Hostess, CupCakes, Snack Cakes, Valentine's DayThe first one that I saw was Dark Chocolate Raspberry CupCakes. Of course a box of them ended up in my cart. I later saw another one and that made it in the cart as well. You will see what it is soon 🙂

Last year they had Red Velvet CupCakes and they have since become a regular flavor.

Black Chocolate CupCakes, Raspberry flavor, Hostess Snack Cakes, CupCakesEarly this week I tried the cupcakes. When I opened the box you could see that the cakes were nice and dark. You could also detect a nice scent of dark chocolate.

Dark Chocolate CupCakes, Raspberry, Hostess, Snack Cakes, SquiggleYou can see the nice dark chocolate frosting as well as the squiggle in this picture. The squiggle seems a bit less pink than what is shown on the box.

Dark Chocolate Cake, Frosting, Squiggle, HostessA little out of focus in the middle, but you can see the nice rich cake and the dark chocolate frosting in this picture. The smell was really nice and I was ready to take a bite.

Raspberry chreme filling, CupCakes, Dark ChocolateHere is the center of the CupCake. You can see the raspberry creme filling. Luckily the raspberry taste was not too strong as it is not my favorite flavor. Instead it was nicely balanced with the richness of the dark chocolate.

The CupCake was a bit messy to eat as the chocolate melted on my fingers as I held it. But it tasted good when I licked my fingers.

Hostess is making more and more holiday themed CupCakes. They had Pumpkin Spice CupCakes for Thanksgiving and Scary Cakes for Halloween. Perhaps this year they will have one for St. Patrick’s Day. Of course the Hostess Baseballs will probably appear again in March or April so we can look forward to them after Valentine’s Day is over.

Have you see the Valentine’s Day snacks from Hostess?
