Sunday in South Africa

This morning I was up early to get ready to go to church services.

I had a good breakfast before heading to the entrance of the hotel where I was to be collected for the ride to the church buildingFairway, LIttle Falls Church of Christ, South Africa, Sunday, breakfast, Zoom

Here is the entrance to the hotel. I had a nice walk around the area taking pictures while waiting.

I met the friend who collected me during a trip to South Africa more that twenty years ago. It was nice to see her again, and also others who I had met over time.

We had a short trip to the church building in Little Falls. It was nice to worship with others and hear a great sermon.Fairway, LIttle Falls Church of Christ, South Africa, Sunday, breakfast, Zoom

In the afternoon I took a walk around the grounds and watched people play golf.

In the evening I went to services again in Toronto via Zoom to round out the day.

I also sent a lot of messages around the world to people I know who have South African connections. I sent e-mails to the Middle East, US and Australia.

A nice Sunday in South Africa.

Steven

    What has happened to Steven?

Janet, this is Steve’s sister. Unfortunately Steve passed away last Sunday evening (April 7) in South Africa. He had been in a coma since the morning after writing this final post. He had a hemorrhagic stoke that caused a brain bleed. We miss him terribly. Of course we will also miss his daily blog posts. 😔

Sorry to hear this. I didn’t read often but always enjoyed it when I did. I’d always wanted to share family history with Steven as we have a common ancestor (that he had posted about) but just never got around to it. My condolences and prayers to you and your family.

Thank you, Margaret. My mother also does quite a bit with family history. She and Steven always worked closely with the details. I am happy to connect with you as well.
