Did you know that they now have Chocolate Cake Twinkies?

I knew that it was only a matter of time as it has been hinted at in the past.

Since the relaunch of Twinkies by Hostess there have been several versions of Twinkies that have included chocolate, but this is the first to have chocolate cake.

Here are Chocolate Creme Twinkies that had a chocolate filling. This picture is from my post Twinkies Flavors. There have also been Chocodile Twinkies and Cherry Chocodile Twinkies.

I opened the box and it looked like Twinkies, only darker.

They definitely look like chocolate cake. What surprised me was the density of the cake.

I was expecting a lighter cake similar to the regular Twinkies. However, the chocolate cake is quite a bit denser. But as I think about it a chocolate cake is usually denser than a white cake.

The cakes do have a nice taste, but to me they just don’t have the feel of Twinkies. They have the texture of CupCakes without the frosting.

It will be interesting to see if the Chocolate Cake Twinkies stick around as a regular offering from Hostess.
