ECHOJ at Night

Over the past couple of years I have been following the construction and then the opening of the East County Hall of Justice in Pleasanton. However, this is the first time that I have used the acronym (ECHOJ) that it is becoming known by in a post. The acronym is pronounced echo and then the letter J.

ECHOJ Dublin, California, Alameda County Courts, East County Hall of JusticeIn my last post about ECHOJ, A Look Inside the East County Hall of Justice, I mentioned that it wouldn’t be too long before I would be dark when I leave work and I would then be able to get some pictures of the building at night.

East County Hall of Justice, Pleasanton, California, Night ShotTonight was that night. I had to work late as I was gathering some information on a new product that I am teaching. As I was leaving the office I decided that I needed to take a few night pictures of ECHOJ.

ECHOJ, justice center, Dublin CaliforniaFrom where I took the pictures you can only see the top two floors of the building lit up. They do look very interesting. It was also late enough that the halls were empty.

ECHOJ Dublin, California, Alameda County Courts, East County Hall of JusticeHere is a picture of the 4th floor hallway from the inside. They were even more deserted than this.

Court House, Dublin, California, ECHOJHere is a little closer look. I like the way that the hallways are all lit up. The building looks warm and inviting, although most people who have to go there probably don’t want to be there. The picture just above this one was taken from right near the door that is on the right side of the top floor in this one.

I do like the way that the doors stand out in the picture. They are definitely an interesting contrast.

I had thought about writing about turkeys tonight as I had seen some while taking a walk this afternoon. They will probably show up in a post tomorrow as I need to write one before heading off to the airport and need something quick to write about 🙂

Now, back to packing.

Virtual Hike Update

My progress has been much slower in this segment of my Virtual Hike. This is mainly because I have been traveling, but also because recording is not as accurate without an internet connection while out walking in another country.

Since it has been awhile since my Virtual Hike to Pioche post I thought I would give an update.

Pioche, Nevada, Escalante Utah, Virtual HikeMy ambitious goal was to make it to Escalante, Utah by the end of October. This will most likely not happen as I have been averaging less than 4 miles a day.

parowan Utah, Pioche Nevada, Virtual HikeAfter my walk tonight I have covered about 105 miles since Pioche. This puts me at Parowan, Utah. I still have a little more than 80 miles to Escalante.

Parawon Utah, Virtual HikeHere is a view from Google Street View of Parowon. You can see some hills in the distance, but it is mainly flat. The Virtual Hike will soon take me into the hills as I head out toward canyon country.

Flat Lands, Telephone Poles, Utah PlainsI thought that an interesting comparison would be to show where I was on my Virtual Hike vs. where I was actually walking on a given day. The picture above from Google Street View is from where I was on my Virtual Hike on October 4th.

Walk to Work, Jena, Germany, Fall ColorHere is where I actually was on October 4th. This is from my walk to work in Jena, Germany. See my post Walking to Work for more pictures.

There is such a contrast between the two places. Wide open plains in one picture and a beautiful fall scene in the other.

I will be going back to the beautiful fall scenes of Jena again next week. I will hopefully get a bit more walking in next week.

When will I make it to Escalante? Stay tuned.
