Today has been a very long day. My Saturday started 37 hours ago from the moment I started typing this post.
Of course, the long day is courtesy of the International Date Line and two long flights home from Singapore.
I had to be up at 2:30 in the morning to get to the airport for a 6:10 flight to Tokyo.
Fortunately at the time of the morning I arrived the airport was not too busy, but by the time I left it was really starting to get busy. Changi airport in Singapore is one of the busiest airports in the world.
The plane from SIN to NRT was packed, but thankfully it was on a Boeing 787 which is my favorite aircraft.
During my layover at the Tokyo Narita airport I was able to get a picture of one of the ANA theme planes. I knew of a few friends that would enjoy seeing a picture of this Star Wars themed plane.
The flight from NRT to SFO was on a Boeing 747, but the plane had a lot of empty seats, including two by me. I was able to get some good sleep during the flight, which was good since the main cabin entertainment system kept pausing for short periods of time. It was a bit annoying.
Once I landed at SFO I had to retrieve my car and then make the long drive home. My flight arrived a half hour early and I was looking forward to getting all the way home a bit earlier than planned.
Unfortunately, when I pulled up my traffic app it showed that my half hour was going to be lost.
Detouring through Downtown Hayward helped reduce the time spent in traffic, but a lot of other people were also taking this short cut. I finally made it home just past Noon. But wait, wasn’t my flight at 6:10 am? Why am I complaining about only four hours? It is actually 21 hours, but only 6 when based on local times.
It was nice to see my roses when I pulled into the drive at home. My Mister Lincoln rose bush needs a little bit of care, but it was nice to see and smell the beautiful blooms.
I spent the afternoon getting caught up on some things around the house and also taking a few short naps.
I spent part of the afternoon Running Down Memory Lane. The Kansas State Track and Field Championships were in progress and I was following the results on the internet. The High School that I went to won the 1A Boys championship today.
I also slept through part of the A’s game this afternoon and watched the Warriors win to force a game 7 to be played back in Oakland.
Overall a very long day and still a bit more time left. It will end up being a 39 hour Saturday.
I will have a longer but shorter Memorial Day Weekend.
