Ready for Recital

While looking through some pictures to try and find something to spark an idea for a blog post I ran across a couple of interesting pictures.

I found two pictures of my sister and I all dressed up to play in piano recitals.

Piano Recital, all dressed up, big sister, pre-recital pictureHere we are in our cute outfits posing on the back porch of our house in Ottumwa, Iowa.

You can see that my sister was a step taller than me then.

We both took piano lessons from Margaret Hunt and I have some great memories of riding the bus all the way across town with my sister to go to piano lessons at the Harper Mansion.

Piano Recitals, Dressed up, Flowers, Sister, Margaret HuntHere is another picture from probably a year later. You can see that we have both grown a bit and that my sister is now wearing glasses.

I really like this picture of my sister. She is so cute, and I really like her outfit.

We are in the back yard of our house which brings back many memories. I remember when we planted the tree that is behind us and also the rose bush that is beside me.

These two pictures remind me of a post that I wrote about Playing Strings. In the post I included two pictures of us getting ready to go play in a concert.

You can click on the link in the previous paragraph to learn more about our adventures with strings. Two of the pictures from the post are shown below.

Cello, Stringed Instruments, Orchestra, Ottumwa Iowa, MemoriesBy now, I also have glasses and am finally getting a bit bigger although I really didn’t get a big growth spurt until I was in Junior High.

Violin, Orchestra, Strings, concert, Music, Ottumwa IowaHer is my big sister with her violin. We both played in the same all-city concert. I was in the grade school orchestra and she played with the Junior High orchestra.

I hope that you enjoyed these pictures. They really brought back some good memories for me.

Did you play the piano or a musical instrument?

Steven
