Super Bowl Sunday night and I am quickly looking for a post idea. I looked at the calendar and notice that there are a spate of holidays ahead.
Tomorrow is the Chinese New Year. In fact most of my Chinese friends are already celebrating. When I was in China last month they were a lot of Chinese New Year Decorations starting to appear.
Tomorrow is also the day that Lincoln’s Birthday is observed. His actual birthday is not until the 12th, but our library is closed on Monday as well as other government offices.
Ash Wednesday is this week as well.
Of course Valentine’s Day is also just a week away. The valentine card above is from one of my Century Old Valentines posts. I may try and find a few more this week and write another post, or maybe my mind will wander somewhere else.
Next Monday will be what many calendars list as Presidents’ Day. But is it President’s, Presidents’ or Presidents? Actually none of these are correct as the official name of the holiday is …………………..
………………………. Washington’s Birthday.
The little figures in the last two pictures come from my set of Marx Presidents.
The 15th is also a holiday in parts of Canada. In most provinces it is Family Day, but in Manitoba it is Louis Riel Day. Prince Edward Island celebrates Islander Day and it is also Nova Scotia Heritage Day.
A lot to celebrate in the week ahead.
Steven
