Old Altamont Pictures

This evening I have had trouble coming up with a topic to blog about.

I finally thought about finding some old barn pictures, but in the process of searching ran across two old pictures from the Altamont Pass which is today part of my daily commute.

Altamont Pass, Daily Commute, California, Colorful Hills, WindmillsI had no problem identifying the location of this picture. When I ran across it in the picture file it surprised me as I had not paid any attention to it before.

I knew right away that it was taken long ago as the highway is only three lanes wide. The picture was taken in the early 80’s.

Altamont Pass, Bay Area, California, Windmills, Old PicturesIt was also interesting to see this picture which includes windmills that are no longer there. These were here 14 years ago when I moved to California, but have since been replaced by more modern ones.

Altamont Hills - California - Windmills - Winter TimeHere is a more recent picture showing some of the windmills. I may have to try and take some pictures of the same areas to show the change from 35 years ago.

For more pictures see Colorful Hills and Colorful Hills II.

Foggy Commute, Dense Fog, Weather, Altamont PassThis picture that I posted yesterday was taken near the same place as the first one, but going in the opposite direction.

Some interesting memories as I look at these pictures. It is amazing where your mind will wander when you see an old picture.
