A quick post tonight as I have been traveling most of the day.
I am now in Omaha, Nebraska. On Saturday I will be participating in a memorial service for my uncle who passed away last year. I will give more details about the service in a future post.
However, tonight Orange Slices are on my mind. One of my Saturday traditions is to buy a package of orange slices at Target and slowly eat them throught the week. Earlier this week, I bought some for my trip.
When I was at the airport this morning I decided to open one of the bags and eat a few of them. I bit into the first one and something was definitely different. They did not have the same texture or taste that they usually do.
I took a look at the package and saw a little green notice. ‘New Recipe’, why can’t they leave things alone when they have a good thing?
They look pretty much the same, although there seems to be a little more uniformity and definition in the pattern.
However, when I look at the inside they are more dense than they used to be. They are more chewey and just don’t have the same texture that they used to have.
I had my dad try one and he was happy with them. One of the reasons that I like to eat orange slices is that he has always liked them.
Sorry about the quality of the pictures, I took them quickly and only later found out that they are a bit out of focus.
Do you have a favorite candy that brings back memories?
Steven

Old-fashioned traditional candies shouldn’t get new recipes!!! I’m not sure whether I like them or not, but a candy that I associate with my childhood are the pink wintergreen lozenge candies.
I also love “pink lozenges,” plus the old Marathon bar.
I guess mine are in the mail, mmmmm can’t wait. 😉
