Goodreads has a nice little report that gives you some stats from your year of reading. Instead of sharing a link to it I have clipped out pieces that I want to add more information about.
I did a bit of reading this year, and finished a few reading challenges.
I read over 80,000 pages and almost 300 books. Some of the books that I read were short, but they were part of book lists that I am reading.
Goodreads also showed me the most popular and least popular books that I have read.
Just because it was Christmas time I read A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Almost 600 thousand other people have read this book.
On the other extreme it looks like I am the only person who has read Nathaniel Hawthorne and His Wife by his son Julian Hawthorne.
As part of one of my book challenges I read The Rainbabies by Laura Krauss Melmed. It was only 32 pages, but they were richly illustrated and it was a great story.
On the other end The Man Without Qualities by Robert Musil was 1,774 pages over two volumes.
As you can see the average length of book is a healthy 283 pages.
The number one rated book that I read was The Case of the Monster Fire by John R. Erickson. This book got me interested in the Hank the Cowdog books and I just had to read the entire series. They are great books about life in cattle country from the perspective of a cowdog.
Now to get started on my reading for next year after a nice party this evening.
