Virtual Hike to Caribou, Nova Scotia

The next destination on my Virtual Hike was Caribou, Nova Scotia.

The previous destination on my virtual hike was Newport, Nova Scotia, where one of my ancestors lived in Canada back in the 18th century.

Virtual hike, Nova Scotia, caribou, ferry I have been heading toward Prince Edward Island and this is the last stretch.

Virtual hike, Nova Scotia, caribou, ferryThe area I am virtually hiking through is fairly flat and rural. There are a few towns to go through, but no big cities.

Virtual hike, Nova Scotia, caribou, ferryOne of the things I like about the walk option in Google Maps is that sometimes it takes you down some country roads.

Virtual hike, Nova Scotia, caribou, ferryHere is the ferry that I will use to cross over to Prince Edward Island.

There is a bridge that goes to Prince Edward Island, but you are not allowed to walk across it, so to keep with the spirit of the virtual hike I must take the ferry.

Once I reach Prince Edward Island I will head to where one of my favorite book series is set.

Partly Cloudy Eclipse

Tonight I was able to see part of the lunar eclipse.

May 15 eclipse, lunar eclipse, cloudyMy first view of the eclipse was through the clouds as the moon rose over the roofs to the east. You can just barely see the red moon through the clouds.

May 15 eclipse, lunar eclipse, cloudyI had a pretty good view as the moon rose higher into the sky. I took all these pictures without a tripod, so along with the clouds the pictures are not too clear.

May 15 eclipse, lunar eclipse, cloudyHere you can see the light clouds a bit better as they partly obscure the red moon.

May 15 eclipse, lunar eclipse, cloudyI did get a pretty clear shot as the moon started to move out of the shadow of the earth.

May 15 eclipse, lunar eclipse, cloudyA couple commercial breaks later the moon had almost moved out of the shadow of the moon. You can tell here that there were still some light clouds.

It was cool to see another lunar eclipse. Perhaps next time the sky will be clearer and I will use a tripod 🙂
