About a year ago I wrote a post about rumors that a Hobby Lobby was coming to town.
There were already Hobby Lobby stores in Northern California, but none were nearby. There is one by my office, but I have only been to it a few times. When work is over I want to head home. Plus, with the pandemic I have been to the office a lot less often.
Last February Hobby Lobby posted a job for a Tracy location and rumors were fueled even more. The local newspaper also announced that they would open in the old JC Penney store location later in the year.
I looked forward to having a much larger hobby store close by that has a much better selection.
The announcement also brought back memories of many visits to the Gladstone Hobby Lobby when I lived back in Missouri. I bought quite a few craft supplies there that I still have 🙂 However, even if I lived close, I can no longer go back to the Gladstone store as the location has closed.
With a local Hobby Lobby I could have searched for the yarn that my sister could not find back in Iowa.
A couple weeks ago I finally visited the new Hobby Lobby. It has been open since October, but I had not done any shopping near it so did not make a special visit. I finally needed to visit store next to it so decided to check it out.
Just walking through the store brought back many memories. I had memories of stores back in Missouri as well of crafts and hobbies from years past. I have been thinking renewing some of my hobbies, or perhaps starting some new ones.
