The next destination on my Virtual Hike was Oak Island, Nova Scotia.
Based on where my virtual hike was heading I am sure that many of you knew that Oak Island would be a destination on my hike.
I had been working my way up the Atlantic Coast into Canada recently. However, Oak Island is not why I was heading north. I wanted to stop at where several of my Canadian ancestors live.
I first crossed over the Bay of Fundy on a ferry and landed at Digby, Nova Scotia.
I then made my way through the Nova Scotia forests to the East Coast of the province.
I finally went down the road to Crandall Point where the causeway to Oak Island connects to the mainland. It is interesting as Crandall Point was probably named after one of the descendants of the New England Planters who came up to Canada from Rhode Island. The Crandalls would have been fairly close cousins to my ancestors who had also moved to Nova Scotia.
Here you can see across the water to Oak Island, which is a familiar site to those who watch The Curse of Oak Island.
Since I am virtually hiking I am also taking a virtual tour of the island and the places that they have been investigating. Of course this is easy to do I as usually watch the show each week.
If I had actually been there would they have given me a tour? It would be really cool to see everything first hand and to share some of my thoughts about the mystery of Oak Island.
The next stops include some places where my ancestors lived and where one of my favorite book series is set.
