Two Years ago in Germany

As December begins I have been thinking back to two years ago when I took my last trip away from home.

SFO, San Francisco Airport, United 777, Full planeThe trip was to Jena, Germany to teach a couple courses at our office there. Who would have thought at that time that I would not travel for the next two years.

Christmas Pyramid, Ferris Wheel,WeihnachtspyramideI like to visit Germany in December as it is a festive time of year especially with the local Christmas markets that are full of food and entertainment.

Christmas Market, Jena Germany, snow, Christmas TimeIt also snowed during the time I was there, which is something that I miss here in California.

leben am toten meer, life at the dead sea, SMAC, ChemnitzAnother highlight of the trip to Germany was taking a train trip to Chemnitz on the weekend to visit an archaeological museum. There was a special exhibition of Life at the Dead Sea – Archaeology from the Holy Land that I wanted to see as they were using some pictures that I had taken in one of the displays. See: Life at the Dead Sea

clifford and carry onFinally it was time to head home and here are my bags on the train station platform as I wait for the train for the first leg of the journey.

A lot has happened since I made it home from Germany, but my bags have remained unpacked for almost two years now.
