While I was on my way to the library this afternoon I heard several emergency vehicles off in the distance. Little did I know that I would soon be watching a fire.
No, the library was not on fire. That would be a very bad thing.
Here was the view from the library. You could see smoke coming from the roof of an apartment building across the street.
There were soon firemen on the roof of the building poking holes so that the heat and smoke could clear from the interior. You can see the smoke coming out of the building in this shot.
The wind shifted a bit and smoke started to fill the area. I could not even see the building anymore. I could also really start to smell the smoke.
The wind soon shifted again and you could again see the building. There was also less smoke from the fire at this point as it looks like they finally made it inside the building to start putting out the fire.
I had to get my books returned so headed into the library. I looked out the window of the library and you could see that they were now inside the building and spraying water through the apartment and out through the balcony.
By the time I was finished at the library they were starting to wrap things up but there was still a good sized group of people watching the firefighters at work.
This reminded me of times when I was little and would sometimes follow firetrucks to see where a fire was. I think I got in trouble a few times 🙂
Another fire put out by our great fire department.
