In Tracy the 11th Street Bridge has long been in need of major repairs or replacement.
The time has finally come and they are slowly dismantling the old bridge.
In this picture you can see the temporary bridge that they have constructed and also the old bridge that is closed off.
In this picture the temporary bridge does not look too long. I will share another picture where you can see that it is quite long.
The temporary bridge is narrow and it is not fun having someone tailgate you all the way across it.
In this picture the temporary bridge looks quite a bit longer. They have already taken down the bridge in this section.
Here you can see some of the old bridge structure. It is definitely a demolition zone at this time. I have been watching the old bridge slowly come down over the last couple of weeks. Soon it will be fully demolished and the new construction will start.
If you look closely in the picture you will see that I am not the only one taking pictures of the site.
Here is a view from a bit further away. You can see that most of the bridge has been removed and only a small part of it remains. I expect it to all be removed within the next week or so.
I will have to get some more pictures then.
Thankfully this is not in my commute path each day. Instead it is mostly seen on Sunday and Wednesday evenings on the way home from church services when there is not much traffic.
Seeing this bridge always brings back memories as it is the scene of where I hit a small animal. See my post Old Blue Broken. This is why I always drive slowly when crossing.
Now to see how long it takes to finish.
Steven
