I was looking forward to seeing the eclipse tonight, but did not have too much luck. I had mentioned in my post yesterday, Supermoon Eclipse, that clouds might get in my way.
As I left Patterson and headed north to Tracy I could see that there was a good chance that it might be overcast. There was open sky to the north, but not far enough north.
The sky was absolutely beautiful with the clouds lit up by the setting sun.
Looking straight ahead of me I could see the fringe of the clouds. However they were angling off to the north and west which would most likely hide the eclipse.
You could also see some rain dropping from the clouds, but only a few sprinkles landed on my car.
You could see that it was very dark where there was cloud cover. The red slowly receded from the clouds as the sun dropped further below the hills to the west. As I got closer to home it got very dark as the clouds did not clear.
By the time I got home I knew that there was no chance that I would see the eclipse while it was at the height of occlusion.
I checked periodically throughout the evening, but the overcast was too heavy. Finally the clouds started to clear and you could see the glow of the moon behind them.
Finally the moon peeked through the clouds and you could see that the eclipse was almost over. About the time that the eclipse was over the clouds finally cleared. I then took a nice long walk in the light of the full moon.
I guess I got to see a wonderful sunset and a peek at the eclipse. I should not complain too much 🙂

Those are beautiful pictures of the sunset. I, in nw central Wisconsin , got to watch the whole eclipse as it happened early enough that I could still get to sleep for Monday.
God has given us a beautiful universe in which to appreciate his handiwork.
