When your first choice of restaurants for lunch fails you usually have a Plan B.
I have been thinking about my last trip to South Korea this week as one of my students is from Seoul. He was also in my classes during my trip to Seoul back in March of 2013.
Plan B is an Italian Bistro near our office in Seoul. It actually was our plan b that day as the restaurant we wanted to go to was full.
I really liked the place settings at Plan B. They had colorful plates on the table along with small drink glasses. It almost seemed like there should have been a tea cup on the plate instead of the glass.
We ordered several pizzas, including this nice pepperoni pizza with a nice thin crisp crust.
We also had several cheese pizzas. These turned out to be the favorites and when you see the next picture you will understand why. They did something with the pizza that I have not seen anywhere else in the world.
I was really curious when they brought small little bowls of honey out before they brought the pizzas. I was wondering what they were for. Perhaps they would be for dipping bread sticks.
However, I soon found that my students were dipping their cheese pizza in the honey. When I said that I had never see this before they were shocked. It was normal for them.
I did do some research at the time and found that there are a few isolated places around the US where restaurants offered honey to dip your pizza crust in, but no mention of a complete piece of pizza.
Another quick check found that there are a few more places, but it still looks like it is mostly just for the crust.
I have to admit the cheese pizza was really good with honey and now I may have to get just a plain cheese pizza and try this again. Or Plan B, maybe I need to take another trip to Seoul.
Have you ever dipped your whole slice of pizza in honey?
Steven
