The Canada Goose is one animal that makes us think of Canada. Of course, it is partly because of the name. We usually call them Canadian Geese, but the true name is Canada Goose or Canada Geese in the plural.
When I saw a small flock of Canada Geese yesterday at the hotel, I decided that I had to write a post about them sometime.
Here is part of the flock walking down the driveway of the hotel. I guess that they are in the midst of their Westin Wanderings, just as I was last week.
One of the things I mentioned in my Westin Wanderings post last week was the big flower clock at the hotel. Here we see two Canada Geese grazing in front of the clock.
The clock has the same coloring as it did last fall when I was here. I though that it might have different flowers a little earlier in the year.
Here we have a stately Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) standing in front of a flower bed. I like the black and white of the goose versus the color of the flower bed.
You can also see the very distinctive chinstrap of the Canada Goose.
I have many memories of Canada Geese over the years. Since they are migratory, we often see them in the US. They are often a nuisance as they flock together and leave large messes behind them. Have you ever tried to play golf on a course where they have been?
Here is one last picture of a Canada Goose in front of the flower clock.
I have also been on the lookout for the black squirrels that roam the hotel grounds. I only have a couple pictures so far. Hopefully I will get some more next week.
The work week is almost done and I am looking forward to a great weekend.
Do you have weekend plans?
Steven
We have a lot of photos of Canada Geese taken at a Lake near us.

You can see many black squirrels here in Northwest Wisconsin. In the 60s one rarely saw them south of Chetek but they have extended their range to Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls.
