Today Old Blue reached a milestone on the journey home.
I have been watching the miles tick by on my odometer for the past week as it has approached 100,000 miles.
Tonight I was more attentive as I was getting close. Of course I am very familiar with the drive home from work, so I could tell you almost exactly where the odometer would cross over from five to six digits.
The picture above is not where it happened, but I just had to take a picture of a rare occurrence. An almost empty section of 580 through Livermore on a weekday afternoon. Not sure why, but I was back in heavy traffic after a few minutes.
After topping the Altamont I was getting close and a few miles later took this picture with the odometer at 99,999 miles. The sun was playing tricks with shadows and glare, and I should have cleaned the display area š
Here we have that significant milestone of 100,000 miles. I guess that I can truly call my car Old Blue now.
This is usually when I start thinking about what my next car will be, but I really like my car and would like to drive it as long as it stays in good shape.
As you can see, Old Blue still looks like it is in good shape.
I have had some car problems in the past couple of years, but nothing too bad. The recent repairs and service have been much less than payments on a new car and I am comfortable with Old Blue.
Here are a couple posts about Old Blue’s sufferings:
Old Blue is starting into the next 100K in good shape and ready for more adventures.
Old Blue also just won the race to 100K. Check back later this week to see what Old Blue was competing with.
How many miles do you have on your vehicle?
