Tonight I had a beautiful view while driving home. Unfortunately, I was not able to capture a great picture of the beautiful double rainbow that was arching across the sky.
I did however snap a couple of pictures. They at least give you a sense of the beauty.
As you can see in this picture there was a double rainbow. The inner rainbow was a full rainbow and arched all the way over to the other side of the road.
Here is the other end of the rainbow. At least the windshield of the car is in focus and you can see the water droplets.
A rainbow is formed by light being reflected and refracted by water droplets. With the sun setting behind me and the light sprinkle of rain ahead of me, it was prime conditions for a beautiful rainbow. These pictures do not even begin to show how beautiful it was.
I took this picture when I stopped at the grocery store. Here you see the very strong colors in the rainbow, and if you look closely you can see a hint of the double rainbow in the upper left corner of the picture.
Of course when I arrived home my camera was out again to try and capture raindrops on roses. Hmm, maybe I should have looked for some whiskers on kittens too. You can see some cat whiskers here: Tarragon the Cat
OK, back to the topic. Here we can see a few small water droplets on a Tropicana rose bud. These roses are really beautiful when they open up.
I really like the rain drops on this yellow floribunda rose. They weigh the rose down a bit, but they look so pretty.
Here is an interesting shot down between the petals of a rose. I like the way that some of the drops are in focus and others are not. This picture makes me think of so many scientific things. Surface tension, capillary action, refraction, reflection, cohesion and adhesion. So many things to think about.
For roses without water droplets, see my post from earlier this week: First Roses
I hope you enjoyed the beauty of water droplets.
Steven
You’re getting some really great shots with your new camera Steven. Love those Yellow roses so much. I don’t however wonder about all the science you have going on in your brain. LOL, but I do imagine they smell wonderful. I always think of rainbows as good luck.
Gorgeous pictures!! Thank you …
