Today has been a very busy day of travel.
I had to get up early to go to the airport since the Bay Bridge is closed this weekend for the final construction needed to switch traffic to the new span.
I did not know how traffic would be affected going to the San Francisco Airport, so left really early.
My traffic app kept recalculating the time and it was a good thing that I left early, as it took me almost an hour more than it usually would have taken.
Early to the airport meant the chance to take some pictures.
Here we have a nice picture of the three tanks that spell out SFO.
In the background you see the tail of a United 747, the maintenance hangar and the Oakland hills in the distance.
I also saw an A380 from Lufthansa land and taxi in to the terminal.
I was able to get a nice picture of it with the hills in the background. I still have not flown on an A380, but hope to someday. I just need to go to the right places 🙂
However, I think I am more excited about flying on a 787 someday.
I had thought about adding pictures of some of the different aircraft support vehicles into my blog tonight.
Since I am typing this on my iPad and it is not as easy to work with text and images, I will save them for a future post.
I will close out my post with this picture that I took while we were climbing out of SFO.
I hurriedly pulled out my camera to take this picture, so didn’t get the best shot.
Here we see the new span of the Bay Bridge along with the older span.
They are both clear of traffic, but next Tuesday the new span will be in use and will probably be packed.
I am sure there will be a lot of people who will drive over it just for the experience.
Steven

Always smart to plan extra time isn’t it. I’m flying back to California in October, but I’m going to fly into San Jose this time. Happy travels Steven
Very interesting, thanks!!
