In the BAR

My mind was wandering all over the place on my way home tonight. I was trying to figure out what I was going to blog about tonight. I needed something that I could put together fairly quickly as it has been a long day.

When I walked down to my mailbox and picked up my mail, my mind started to focus on a topic.

In my mailbox was the newest issue of Biblical Archaeology Review (BAR).

So, what is in the BAR this month?

I don’t have time to dig into the articles tonight, but some of the titles have me thinking.

Hezekiah's Tunnel - Archaeology - Biblical Archaeology Review - BAR - Under Jerusalem - Water System

Will Hezekiah be Dislodged from His Tunnel? I am really intrigued by this title. On my trip to Israel last year we did not walk through Hezekiah’s Tunnel, but I was able to go up to the entrance and take a picture before we walked through the older Canaanite tunnel.

I have a little more information about the tunnel system in my post: Over, Under and Around Jerusalem

Maresha - Shephelah - Caves of Maresha - Sennacherib - Micah

Another article is titled Underground Maresha. We drove by Maresha on the last day of our tour when we were in The Shephelah.

I only recently learned that Maresha had an extensive underground system of caves. I now want to go to Maresha some day and explore the caves. The pictures I have seen are fascinating and I am sure that when I read the article I will find out even more reasons to make the visit.

Tell es-Sultan - Walls of Jericho - Joshua - Walls Come Tumbling Down - Rahab - Harlot

Another intriguing title is, Was Rahab Really a Harlot? I read the first few paragraphs and am looking forward to reading the rest.

The title reminded me of my visit to Jericho. The picture above comes from my post: Walls of Jericho

I also have pictures of Jericho in a few other posts: Well Below Sea Level, Hills of Jericho and Judges 3 Judges

I would like to just sit down and start reading, but now I need to get things ready for another early day.

Steven
