One of the first questions that comes to mind when you see street art is whether it is sanctioned or not. I shared a nice piece of street art in a post that I made from Mexico City in Streets of Coyoacan.
Here in Korea, I found a similar piece of street art.
You may wonder how this piece is similar to the one from Mexico City. The one from Mexico City shows graffiti artists who are based on traditional Mexican characters. Here we see graffiti artist characters who identify culturally with South Korea. A very interesting contrast.
Across the street from this piece of street art is another interesting piece.
A very colorful piece of art. The orange skull is interesting as it peeks out from behind the voracious greenery.
In an alley not far away I also found this piece of street art.
I would say that this wall of art is probably not sanctioned. I would class this as true graffiti. It is interesting to see a well drawn Garfield in this painting. The rest of the picture has some interesting elements. Definitely an interesting look at Korean culture.
I hope you enjoyed this little look at street art. I have spotted a few more places where I want to get pictures that are near my hotel, but need to wait for some daylight on the weekend.
I also wish that it was a little later in the year and that spring was in full swing. The temperatures here have been cold and it still dips below freezing at night.

Seems strange that they permit graffiti in so many prominent places …
