Some of you may remember my post Remembering Grandma from last month. Today it is time to remember my Grandpa.
My Grandpa Harry Braman was born 100 years ago today.
Here is a picture of my Grandpa when he was just an infant. I really like the outfit and the shoes that he was wearing.
I have some great memories of my Grandpa. He worked for Interstate Nurseries in Hamburg, Iowa for many years and I can always remember him bringing us plants and trees for us to plant in our yard. He helped nurture my love for flowers and it is in his memory that I have beautiful roses growing in front of my house. I remember him bringing me trees that I planted in our yard in Kansas. In a recent look on Google maps, some of them are big beautiful trees now. Maybe now you all know why I like to take pictures of flowers and trees.
I really like this picture. I am to the left of the picture and my Grandpa is holding my little brother. I always remember my Grandpa’s full white beard. I don’t really remember him any other way and when I see pictures of him without the beard I have to look twice. My Grandpa even played Santa at Christmas in the small town of Hamburg, Iowa.
This picture is a bit rough, but it is one of my favorites. I call it Dickens’ Christmas. This picture just makes me think of Charles Dickens and Christmas time. I know that it is not an accurate depiction of the Victorian age, but it reminds me of it.
For those of you who were expecting an update from the Joshua class I am attending on Sunday morning, I will try and post something tomorrow. I just could not miss posting about my Grandpa today. However, we did get up to the fall of Jericho this morning so you can visit my previous post, Walls of Jericho, to see a few pictures from Jericho.
Steven
Thanks for sharing your memories Steven. You were a cute kid…I also fancy the pickup truck too. My Grandpa was born in 1904, I was only 12 when he passed away, quite young actually. I’m glad you have such fond memories.
Love your pictures. Your Grandpa looks like a good, kind man.
What a wonderful tribute to your grandfather. He sounds like a wonderful, fun, kind person.
