My favorite zoo is the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska.
The exhibits at the Henry Doorly Zoo are very well thought out and executed. I have been to several top zoos around the World and in my opinion this one is the best.
One of the best exhibits at the Henry Doorly Zoo is the Hubbard Gorilla Valley. The facility is both for exhibit and research and is well known for the Gorilla breeding program it manages. The first test tube baby Gorilla came from this program, and they have the largest Gorilla sperm bank in the World.
Two years ago I visited the Zoo with my family, and captured a couple of interesting shots of the Gorillas. The first one here is of a Western Lowland Gorilla who is taking it easy while observing the visitors. The picture was taken through a plexi-bubble so has some interesting reflections and birefringence. I just love the expression on the Gorilla’s face.
The second picture is of a baby Gorilla. I like the sleepy little baby with the pretty little bit of foliage. The tiny bit of Green against the Black of the Gorilla is a nice little touch. When I posted this to my Facebook page, I asked my friends to caption it. The best of the suggestions is below :-).
I am looking forward to another visit to the Henry Doorly Zoo. They have completed several new exhibits since my last visit.

Love! Love! (You’re posting about all my fave animals…) 🙂
My older niece has recently moved to Omaha. I’m looking forward to checking out the zoo 🙂 if I can make time to stop looking at my soon-to-arrive great niece.
