Thankful for the Rain

Tonight I am thankful for the rain. After more than a week of very bad air quality it was refreshing to have a day of rain.

The air quality had been dropping and would have finally dropped under 150 even without the rain, but with the rain it dropped all the way down below 50 for part of the day.

Clear Sky, Good AQI, Rain, ThankfulI was so thankful when I walked out this morning to pick up my newspaper and had to dodge raindrops. I was not quick enough and got wet 🙂

It was also good to see birds flying in the air. They were taking it easy all last week with the bad air quality. I hardly saw any birds last week, but today they were flying all over the place.

Clear Sky, Good AQI, Rain, ThankfulI could even see some blue sky from my front door when I went out to get the mail. It was so  nice to see. However, it clouded back up and we had rain for most of the day and evening. I drove through very heavy rain on my way to Patterson this evening for Bible study. I will be heading back to Patterson tomorrow afternoon for a Long Thanksgiving.

Raindrops on roses, favorite things, Sound of Music, Sound of rainOf course, rain means that my roses got wet. Here you see raindrops on my Tropicana rose bush.

Raindrops on roses are truly one of my favorite things. Especially if it is a rain like this that clears the air of the nasty smoke.

Continue to keep the residents of Paradise, California in your thoughts and prayers as they recover from the fires.

Fall CupCakes

This evening I have been busy watching the Curse of Oak Island and so have limited time to get a blog post written. Of course, I should have written one earlier in the day 🙂

So, you get to see some Fall CupCakes from Hostess.

Caramel Apple CupCakes, Hostess snack cakes, fall foodI did not find the Pumpkin Spice ones, but did find Caramel Apple CupCakes again this year.  The box cover is a bit different than it was two years ago when I last bought some. You could look at the previous post and play ‘spot the differences’.

Caramel Apple CupCakes, Hostess, Fall FoodsI do like the art for the box as it really conveys the way that these CupCakes taste.

Individually wrapped cupcakes, hostess cupcakesWhen I opened the box I caught the nice aroma of caramel apple so was really looking forward to tasting the CupCakes.

Squiggle, CupCake, Hostess, Caramel AppleThey have definitely done some work on the equipment that makes the CupCakes as the frosting is more uniform now. The frosting is a nice color and consistency and the squiggle looks pretty good. It is not quite uniform, but much better than it has been in the past.

Fall Flavors, CupCakes, Hostess, Apple CaramelOf course the big question is ‘Do they taste like caramel apple?’

Yes, they have a good caramel apple taste. I like the consistency of the cake and there is a good balance with the filling, cake and frosting. None of them overpower the others.

I have a few left, so am going to go have another one 🙂
