Food I Missed Last Year

As I wrote last night about not traveling, I also thought about some of the foods that I missed last year.

nando's, Peri-Peri Chicken, Sauce, CambridgeI definitely missed getting my Nando’s Fix as it would have been one of the places I would have eaten at during my canceled trip to Sydney.

Massamum Beef Curry - Go Hun Thai Food - Turmeric Curry - Australian Thai FoodI also missed having a great Massamum Beef Curry at my favorite Thai food restaurant in North Ryde, NSW.

Mixed Sashimi, Kyushu, raw fish, oystersI am sure we would have gone to Kyush Sushi in Neutral Bay and had some great sashimi.

potatoes, pork, onionsI am sure I would have made at least one trip to Germany last year if it hadn’t been for the shutdowns. I have missed my pork and potato dishes.

Ernie's Taqueria - Patterson, California - Mexican Restaurant - Carnitas - Guacamole - Rice - BeansA little closer to home, I have missed having the occasional Sunday lunch at Ernie’s Taqueria in Patterson.

Double-Double, In-N-Out, AOC Burger Challenge, FriesOr, the occasional lunch at In-N-Out when I didn’t like what they had at the cafeteria at work.

Now I am hungry and must go eat something. I had a late lunch and was going to skip dinner, but it is not possible now.

A Wander Less Year

Looking back at last year I found that it was a wander less year.

I definitely did less wandering than in years before.

United 787, KIX, Osaka Airport, Kansai Internation Airport, United AirlinesLast year I did not take a single flight. I am trying to remember the last time that happened. There have been a few years with only a couple flights, but none without flights for a very long time.

Sydney Harbour - February 2014 - Winter Olympics Sochi - Winter Olympics in SummerI did have a trip planned early last year as I had courses scheduled in Sydney, Australia. However, the trip was canceled in late February as travel started shutting down.

plug in hybrid, car, gas, fill-upI have also not wandered very far by car. I last filled my tank on March 6 of last year and still have 3/4 of that tank left. It was only about a week after I filled the tank that we entered the first shelter in place. Because of this I still have less than 4,500 miles on my car which is now just a bit over a year old.

Thinking back, I don’t think my car has been more than 30 miles from home since I purchased it.

dublin office, six months away, covid-19Instead of a daily commute to the office when not traveling I have been working from home.

Since the middle of last March I have only been to the office one time.

Winco, Covid 19, essential trip, grocery store, shelter in placeThe furthest I wander from home now is the grocery store, which is just a bit further away than the library.

Of course, this only applies to physical wandering.

My mind still wanders all over the place 🙂
