Painting is Complete

Today was the final day of the painting project.

IĀ  stayed inside out of the way for most of the day and let the painters do their work, with only occasional interaction to open doors or answer a question.

I thought about having you click to go to another post for the before picture, but will post the picture here. (If you click on the link above you will find some nice pictures of a Sunday Afternoon Walk along with the picture below).

House, ready to wash, ready to paint, springYou can see one interesting change, the shutters on both sides of the upper window are now gone. They were made of particle board and were too damaged by moisture to save. I think you will like what we did instead. It is simple but elegant.

It may seem that the house number is gone, but in each picture it was simply obscured. It is easier to obscure on a white background šŸ™‚

What do you think of the color scheme?

Painting is Underway

Today was the day for the painters to get started on the actually painting of my house.

I heard them pull into the drive this morning and I poked my head out the front door to see if they needed anything before I headed back to work.

House Painting, Tracy, New Paint, New Color, sprucing it upI heard a bunch of bumping and banging, but one of the first sings from the inside was seeing a ladder through the window. Looks like I need to work on cleaning some cobwebs.

House Painting, Tracy, New Paint, New Color, sprucing it upIt was a bit hard to stay focused on work as I kept hearing paper rusting and the sound of tape coming off the roll. I eventually started hearing the sound of the paint pump which has a distinctive sound. I finally just had to take a morning break and see what was going on.

It is a little hard trying to visualize how dust accumulates on parts inside an instrument while at the same time paint is being sprayed on the side of the house. However, I decided to think of the paint like a spray of dust and may have figured out some of the dust problems I have been working on.

House Painting, Tracy, New Paint, New Color, sprucing it upThey had a lot of prep work to do before they could get painting.

House Painting, Tracy, New Paint, New Color, sprucing it upBy late afternoon they had most of the body of the house painted. You could see nice long expanses of new color. Tomorrow they will mainly be working on the trim.

House Painting, Tracy, New Paint, New Color, sprucing it upIt is going to be interesting to see what color the house is in different light conditions. The color on the back of the house definitely looks a bit different. Perhaps it is the light reflecting off of the neighbors house which is a dark brown.

More updates tomorrow as the painting of the trim starts to pull everything together.
