Snow in the Hills

This morning as I headed out to work I knew that I would be seeing snow in the hills on my way to work. I also knew there was a possibility that I would maybe see snow close to the road as I went over the Altamont.

Last year I drove over the pass on the way home from work one evening it was snowing and accumulated snow reached down to the edge of the road.

This morning over 100 cars were stuck in these hills as they tried to drive through on one of the routes that was snow covered. Another road was closed in time before people got stuck. All of this contributed to heavy traffic for me this morning.

I could also see the snow covered hills from close to my house where I had some housing free vistas.

It is rare to have snow in these hills two years in a row, but it is good to see a good year again for snow and rain as we really need the moisture.

Día de la Bandera

Friday is Día de la Bandera or Flag Day in Mexico. I saw the day listed on my calendar tonight and decided to share some pictures of Mexican flags that I took about 10 years ago during a trip to Mexico City.

I have a student from Mexico in my class this week. He will be working on a holiday tomorrow, but I will make sure that I wish him happy Día de la Bandera.
