This morning as I headed out to work I knew that I would be seeing snow in the hills on my way to work. I also knew there was a possibility that I would maybe see snow close to the road as I went over the Altamont.
It was a beautiful drive this morning despite the rain falling. The temps had warmed up a bit, but you could see that there was still snow on the pass left from the overnight storm.
Last year I drove over the pass on the way home from work one evening it was snowing and accumulated snow reached down to the edge of the road.
Once I got to the office I took some pictures from our top floor as you could see the snow in the Livermore hills.
The snow came down pretty low on the sides of the hills. This morning over 100 cars were stuck in these hills as they tried to drive through on one of the routes that was snow covered. Another road was closed in time before people got stuck. All of this contributed to heavy traffic for me this morning.
On the way home while waiting in line for the metering lights I took a picture back toward our office and you can see Mt. Diablo covered with snow.
As I headed back up the Altamont again I took a couple more pictures of the Livermore Hills. They were still snow covered.
It was a pretty drive home watching the snow covered hills in the distance. However, the snow on the hills through the Altamont Pass had all melted.
I could also see the snow covered hills from close to my house where I had some housing free vistas.
It is rare to have snow in these hills two years in a row, but it is good to see a good year again for snow and rain as we really need the moisture.
