A Nice Dinner in Jena

This evening I went into the city center for dinner.

I decided to eat at one of my favorite restaurants in the world.

Restauration Stilbruch is in the Wagnergasse and is usually very full. I was lucky tonight and was able to get a table. Probably because it was a cold wet evening. It has rained for most of the day.

Of course, I had to order the Birnen-Pfanne. This wonderful dish of potatoes, pears and pork is absolutely delicious. It is also a really nice comfort food for a cold wet day.

It was so good, especially since I have not had it since I was here last year in October.

After my nice dinner I headed back toward the street trains for my ride back to the hotel. Here I stopped to take a picture of a tower that was over an entrance to the old walled city of Jena.

In the last picture you could see the Stadtkirche St. Michael in the distance. Here is a closer look at the church. You can see a banner on the end of the building about Luther 2017.  The 500th anniversary of Luther posting his 95 Theses is rapidly approaching.

This church building has an interesting connection to Martin Luther, and I will write a new post about it soon.

Walking to Work

One of the nice things about visiting some of our offices around the world is that I get to walk to work.

This time of year in Germany, I get a colorful walk.

In this section I am headed down hill. This section is nice on the way to work, but not as nice on the way back to the hotel.

Across the street from our office is a long line of colorful trees. They are a bit darker in color this year. Last year they were more of a yellow color.

Of course the fallen leaves are also very pretty. I couldn’t resist taking a picture of this red leaf. It is nicely contrasted against the painted white line of the parking lot.

Now for some sleep. All the walking today has tired me out.
