Season 10 of The Curse of Oak Island finally came to an end after a year of new discoveries and theories. They wandered all over the island and across the pond as they investigated the mystery.
This week they aired a Drilling Down episode with a recap of the past season.
The team members were in the office in Michigan as they talked about the status of the different projects.
They covered some of the major work that was done in the Garden Shaft area through the year.
A meeting was held with the team conducting the muon scanning. A preliminary image was shown of the Money Pit area with some underground anomalies.
They also talked about the swamp area and went over the different findings for the year. It looks like they will possibly make a sheet piling enclosure around a major portion of the swamp next year so that they can again drain the swamp. With the piling they can remove more water than they have before.
The old stone well and wall were also talked about, and how they may have a connection to the structures in the swamp.
Lot 5 was also reviewed, especially as it was just this season that they first had access to it. The round stone structure was talked about and it looks like there will be a disciplined archaeological approach to investigating it. Also, a metal detecting survey of Lot 5 is planned.
They talked about the trips that were made to Europe during the year and what some of their findings were. There was nothing new that wasn’t shown in earlier episodes. I am sure that research is ongoing and we will hear more when the next season begins.
To finish off the episode they talked about some of their favorite theories as to where the treasure was deposited and what it might have been.
There is no question that there will be a season 11, although it has not been officially confirmed.
Now that season10 is over I have a list of related books that I want to read before the next season airs. I may share something about them as I start reading them.
