The next destination on my Virtual Hike was Chestertown, NY.

The previous destination on my virtual hike was Fort Ticonderoga, New York.

The virtual hike from Fort Ticonderoga to Chestertown was through the Adirondack Mountains. The route also skirted around the Pharaoh Lake Wilderness Area. Part of the route was along the valley where Interstate 87 runs through the mountains. Of course, the virtual hike was not on the Interstate as pedestrians are prohibited.

In the distance here you can see the Adirondack Mountains. The route from the fort to the mountains was fairly flat.

The route through the mountains was very scenic. There was a lot of traffic on the road in Google Maps, including some large logging trucks.

The route also went along Lake Schroom. The lake was beautiful, but was not visible for most of the time as there were trees between the highway and the lake.The virtual hike finally made it to Chestertown which is a town of less than 1,000 people. The settlement was originally called Chestertown Four Corners, and this is where the four corners were.

There was not particular reason for choosing Chestertown other than it was about the right distance from the last destination. The next destination is a historic site that does have a family connection.

I have been setting shorter distances between destinations for better motivation for my daily walking and so far it has been working. I have been walking more each day and have made good progress on my Virtual Hike. I am still a few stops behind on my posts.

Now that I am in New York I am heading south down through, or near, the Hudson River Valley. I have some interesting stops planned along the way including several with family connections.
