This afternoon I took a New Year walk.
I had been pretty lazy all day watching some shows on Netflix, some football and also taking a few naps 🙂
I didn’t get to sleep too early last night as it was very noisy with all the illegal fireworks bringing in the new year.
One of my resolutions this year is to walk more, which will not take too much 🙂
I will try to go walk around the park each day. While working at home I am getting a lot less steps during the day. It is much closer to the cafeteria and the bathrooms, and all the meetings are virtual so no walking way across the building to a conference room.
With the winter weather there is less daylight and less motivation to go for a walk after work. We are also in the rainy season now.
Perhaps on nice days I should pack my lunch and go eat in the park.
I could also go sit in the gazebo and read a book while eating my lunch.
One reason to walk is of course to be more active to loose weight. I did my weigh in today and compared it with January 1st of last year. Did I gain? Did I lose? – Surprisingly, I was exactly the same weight to the tenth of a pound. Despite less walking I must have done well enough in my caloric intake to offset the decrease in activity.
It is nice to see Mount Boardman in the distance when I walk at the park. I cannot see the mountains from my house as there are buildings in the way. However, I have found a place about a block away from home where there is a small gap where I can see the mountains.
Taking a walk was a good way to focus my thoughts as I thought about the past year and the promise that the new year brings. I have a few things I want to work on that will help make it a better year.
I am hoping that it won’t be too long before we start to get back to a semblance of normal. However, we need to make sure we have proper controls in place to make sure we don’t slide back into trouble.
