Today at the construction site near our office a big red crane started to do some work.
While I was in Germany last week I was watching the construction cam, and saw that the crane had arrived on site and had been put together on Friday.
The crane finally went to work today, but mainly just positioning steel beams so that they are ready to be put in place. I was occasionally looking at the construction cam today, but wanted to get a ground level view. I also needed a nice long walk to help combat jet lag.
Here is the view from the side of our building. You can see the big crane peeking over the trees.
I like that they have a flag flying from the top of the crane. I just checked the construction cam and the crane is still standing tall this evening. There is now a blinking light on top of the boom.
Here you can see what the finished building will look like.
I like this picture with the clouds in the background. This is really interesting weather for May in California. There is actually rain in the forecast again for the end of the week.
Here you can see some of the steel beams laying out on the site. It looks like they are all set up to start erecting the building tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how fast the building goes up.

We have a crane in the section of our state called Big Brutus. It is now inactive, however a site to visit and spend with the historical staff and curators. In southeast Kansas.
