Stadtkirche St. Michael

Whenever I travel to Jena, Germany I will usually take a few pictures of the city church.

It has been interesting to see the look of the building change over the years as it underwent a large restoration project. Someday I need to locate some of the pictures that I took almost 20 years ago and post them along with current ones.

When I first visited Jena the tower was not quite as tall. The tower was damaged in WWII and the cupola was not rebuilt. The cupola replacement was one of the first steps in the restoration project.

Now I am curious as to whether I have a picture of the tower from one of my first trips. I will have to do some hunting for the pictures.
