Here are a few images from my Sunday in Jena. I took over 300 pictures, so am only sharing a small percentage. It was difficult to determine which ones to share as I took a lot of nice pictures.
One of the places I try and visit every time I come to Jena is the grave yard where Carl Zeiss is buried. It was a beautiful day and I spent quite some time wandering around and looking at the interesting memorials. Also, for the first time the church building was open and I was able to go inside. I will have to share some pictures sometime soon of both the other graves and the inside of the church.
I also visited another church where the original grave plate prepared for Martin Luther is displayed. See: Notable Jena Gravestones
I walked around the downtown of Jena and captured some nice street scenes. Here we see the street train coming down toward the old Zeiss factory.
I had an early dinner at one of my favorite restaurants. Restauration Stilbruch is very popular on weekend evenings, so I decided a late afternoon visit would be best if I wanted a table inside away from the smoke.
Just up the Wagnergasse is Die Kneipe which is only open later in the evening. It is also just across the street from where the second Zeiss workshop was located. I really like the ivy on the front of the building.
On the way back to the hotel I stopped to get some pictures of the historic Burgauer Brücke. I really like this old bridge and have taken many pictures of it through the years.
I like this picture with the sign warning you to pay attention.
