At the construction site near our office there was a lot of truck traffic on Friday. Truck after truck entered the site, dumped their load of rock, and exited out to go get another load.
Here is where the trucks would enter. They were bringing in rock to form the base for the parking area and traffic circulation.
The trucks would go to where the rock was needed and dump the load from the two hoppers.
They would then proceed to the exit and wait for the flag man to stop traffic.
The flag man was not too popular with the drivers of cars going down the street, but was definitely a big help for getting the trucks out of the construction zone.
Here you can see the layer of rock in the parking area. The rock is first compacted with a toothed roller and then with a smooth one. You can definitely tell the difference between the two areas.
A large rain system has moved in and will not clear out for several days, so it will be interesting to see what they can do in the wet weather.
