Tonight I decided to share some sunsets that I have witnessed over the Mediterranean Sea.
I will start with the sunset from my first night in Israel back in September 2012.
We arrived at our hotel in Netanya just in time to see the sun setting over the Mediterranean Sea. See my post Night at Netanya for two more sunset pictures.
On the last evening of my first tour to Israel we had dinner at a restaurant near Joppa/Jaffa. The restaurant overlooked the beach and there was a beautiful sunset over the Mediterranean as we were leaving to head to the airport. See: The Shephelah
Here is the view a little bit later as the sun is dropping below the horizon. There were beautiful shadows from the waves on the sea and a little bit of color reflected from the sky near the beach.
It was wonderful to watch this sunset with new found friends on what was supposed to me my last night in Israel for the trip.
Due to issues with my flight I had to spend an extra day in Tel Aviv. During A Walk in Tel Aviv I was able to get a picture of the Mediterranean during daylight.
This sunset picture was taken while we were having dinner at the Marin Brasserie ( בראסרי מרינה ) at the end of the Ashkelon pier.
We visited Ashkelon during my second trip to Israel. We were taking a tour of Israel after digging for two weeks at Lachish. We were able to meet up with two friends who were digging at Ashkelon. See my post: Arad to Ashkelon
On my third trip to Israel I did not get to see any Mediterranean sunsets. Hopefully I will see at least one on my next trip.

My favorite cruise photos feature sunsets with some clouds, not low storm clouds that obscure the horizon, but higher cirrus or cirrostratus. See the end of my FB post today as we were leaving Key West.
Stunning sunsets. Indeed, the reds and golds of a Mediterranean sunset are one of the things I love about living in Tel Aviv. Thanks for sharing!
