This evening at the grocery store I spotted a display of Hostess ScaryCakes.

I had picked up some ScaryCakes a couple years ago, but something looked a little different.

This year the box had a darker theme, a bit more scary and more in the Halloween spirit. The full moon, dark sky and the bats really made it feel a bit more scary.

Two years ago the box had more of a fall color theme. It had a pumpkin headed scarecrow so was still in the Halloween spirit, but to me it was not as scary looking as the box this year.

He is a comparison of the side of the boxes. Here you can see the difference in the themes of the box. I like the darker more sinister theme of ScaryCakes.

The cupcake looks pretty much the same as it did two years ago with the only difference being that the frosting looks to be  a bit thicker and more uniform.

The taste was good, but since chocolate cake is not my favorite I can’t say that this is one of my favorites 🙂
