Deep Fried Twinkies

A good friend of mine let me know earlier this year that Deep Fried Twinkies were soon to be made by Hostess.

Of course, Deep Fried Twinkies have long been a staple of carnivals and fairs. However, they have never been an official product of Hostess.

Finally I found them at the Wal-Mart near my home. There was a complete freezer section full of them. I was not so interested in the chocolate ones, but decided to pick up a package of Original Golden Deep Fried Twinkies.

The box says that they are battered with funnel cake and have a creamy filling. They look really nice on the box.

They really do have a nice taste and the creamy filling has a nice consistency. However, you have to watch for blowouts of the creamy filling while eating one. I had filling running down into my hand. Luckily it was not piping hot.

The others went back in the freezer to wait for the next time I need to reward myself for a job well done. Or maybe just when I need something decadent.

I then went for a nice long walk to burn some of the extra calories. I doubled my daily step goal today 🙂

Have you tried the new Deep Fried Twinkies?
