Kites in Singapore

I was very tired this afternoon and decided to take a short nap. A few hours later I awoke and discovered that I was missing Wednesday night Bible study.

I hope that I can sleep tonight as I need to finish recovering from my jet lag.

Since the jet lag is the fault of a trip to Singapore I decided to look through pictures that I took on the trip for inspiration.

Singapore, Kite, Gardens by the Bay, Kite FlyingThe day that I arrived a colleague took me to visit the Marina Barrage and also the Gardens by the Bay.

The Marina Barrage is one of the dams which acts as a tidal barrier between the sea and the rivers of Singapore. There is a nice park by the Marina Barrage which we visited before visiting the nearby gardens.

In the picture above you can see ships across the bottom of the frame. They are lined up  waiting to either load or unload cargo.

Marian Barrage, Singapore, Windy Day, Sea WindsSince the Marina Barrage is on the coast it is a popular place to fly kites. The breeze from the ocean makes for ideal flying conditions.

Kite Flying, Singapore, Pink Kite, polka dotsWe visited the park early in the day and only one kite was in the air as we were preparing to leave. However, you could see many more people getting ready to release their kites into the air.

Kite, Singapore, Kite Flying, Ocean WindsThis picture is from a trip that I made to Singapore six years ago. I took this picture at the Marine Parade beach which is about a mile further up the coast.

I really like the four wings of this kite and the long tails.

I used the picture in my post Thinking of Singapore which I wrote about a month ago once I knew that I would be visiting Singapore again.

Now for some sleep!

Steven
