Books I Am Reading

I have had a long day as there was another Fire on the Altamont this evening which snarled traffic and led to a very long commute.

So, tonight I thought I would share a little about some books that I am reading.

As always I am reading more than one book. It depends on where I am and in what mood đŸ™‚

Wagons West Series, Mississippi, Dana Fuller Ross, Historical FictionI am currently reading Mississippi! by Dana Fuller Ross which is part of a historical fiction series. This book is number 15 of 24 in the Wagons West series.

Most of the titles are the names of states. The books follow the lives of several families as they help tame the West.

I remember my mom reading through this series when I was a kid.

I had a number of them on my shelves and decided to acquire the entire series. Since I completed that task I am now reading through them.

The Happy Hollisters at Snowflake Camp, Jerry West, Book Series, Stratenmeyer SyndicateI am also reading The Happy Hollisters at Snowflake Camp by Jerry West. This book is #6 in The Happy Hollisters series that has a total of 33 titles.

I recently acquired the last books I was missing in the series and I decided it was time to start my quest to read all of them. I remember reading some of them while growing up, but there are quite a few that I could never find. I would look on the shelves of our friends when we would travel and sometimes find one that I hadn’t read.

These books definitely bring back a lot of memories.

The 14th Colony, Steve Berry, Adventure, Now ReadingThe 14th Colony by Steve Berry is #11 in the Cotton Malone series and was just recently published.

I always enjoy reading the latest book in this series by Cotton Malone. They are a good mix of action, mystery and history.

I have just started reading the book. It is my ‘read during lunch at work book’ and since my boss is in town I am not getting many chances to read it.

What Lincoln Believed, Abraham Lincoln, Michael LindAnother book I am reading is What Lincoln Believed: The Values and Convictions of America’s Greatest President by Michael Lind.

I have only read the first chapter, but am really impressed. The author looks at President Lincoln from different view points to come up with what he truly believed.

Today different groups of people see him in very polarized ways. This book digs into the core beliefs behind the many decisions that he made and find that they are much more complex than many people see them.

The Selected Letters of Laura Ingalls Wilder, Little House Books, William AndersonI am also reading The Selected Letters of Laura Ingalls Wilder which is edited by William Anderson.

Laura Ingalls Wilder is one of my favorite authors. This is mainly because of the Little House books, but also for her many other writings in newspapers and magazines.

I find it very interesting to read some of the letters that she wrote about her travels and also the process of writing, publishing and publicizing the Little House books.

Now for some reading before getting some sleep.

How many books are you currently reading?

Steven
