Those of you who follow my blog probably have deduced that I am a bit of a night owl. My posts usually come very late in the evening and I often complain of having to get up early.
In the past several months I have also been trying to be more active and have been watching my step count. This means that I often take long walks after dark to meet my step count.
Last week I was out walking one evening and was able to capture some pictures of an owl. I often see owls as there is a small parliament of western burrowing owls close to where I live.
I only had my cell phone with me for a camera but the owl was real cooperative and was posing for me. It did take a short flight to another position, but let me get close again for a few more pictures.
I do however have pictures of a western burrowing owl that I took in the daytime, so will share one here. They are definitely majestic birds despite their small size. I used this picture in my post Hoot which is a about the Newbery Honor book with the same title.
Since I am thinking of owls, here is a barn owl that is hiding in a tree. This picture was used in my Owls post.
Here is another picture of a barn owl that I took. It was used in my post Owls in a Well. Visit the post to find out where I was when I spotted owls who were sleeping in a well.
Now it is time for this night owl to call it a night.
Are you a night owl?
