A Walk to Work

While here in Australia, I have a nice walk to work each day.

Walk to Work, Macquarie Centre, Sydney, AustraliaHere is my view as I leave my apartment each morning. Across the street is a large shopping centre. Luckily, there is some nice landscaping so I am not simply looking at a large building and parking garage. You do get some perspective as to how tall the trees are though.

Uphill Walk, Walk to Work, Sydney, Australia, North RydeHere is the sidewalk I walk on. It is a bit hard to see, but it is up a pretty good grade. The uphill portion of the walk to work is about 600 steps.

Masked Lapwing, Plover, Masked Plover, Black Shouldered LapwingI will usually see some black-shouldered lapwings (Vanellus novaehollandiae) as I walk to work. There is a pair that is nesting near the sidewalk about half way up the hill. This morning I took a break to take a few pictures.

Australian Trees, Intersection, North Ryde, AustraliaThis morning as I waited for the light to change so I could cross the street to my office I took a picture of the other side of the street. I really like the tall trees in this picture. The trees are so tall and majestic. Here the tallest tree is the height of a six to seven story building.

Walk to Work, north ryde, Australia, TreesA picture toward my office did not come out as good since I was shooting into the sun. However, you can tell that there are also some very tall trees.

The walk to work is quite a trek since it is uphill most of the way. Of course that means that going back to the apartment is mostly downhill 🙂

It is definitely easier to walk back in the afternoon.

Do you have an uphill walk to work?
