Coming home to a yard that was neglected for three weeks was not the most fun.
Especially as one of my trees was laying over into my agapanthus. One of the stakes that I had used as a tie down for the tree had come loose and the tree toppled.
You can also see in this picture that I had more volunteer trees growing in my backyard and that the grass was a bit tall.
I found a different type of stake and tied the tree back up. I also cut back many of the branches so that the tree no longer functioned as a big sail.
You can see the agapanthus blooms laying over in the tall grass. You can also see areas where the grass is dying from not getting enough water. Reduced watering, due to drought conditions, and the withering temperatures are starting to affect my yard.
Here is another view of my agapanthus in the later afternoon shadows. You can see where the tree fell over and pushed the blooms to the ground.
I did have some nice blooms on my rose bushes when I arrived home. Especially the ones on my new Mister Lincoln rose bush.
Finally on Saturday I was able to get the lawn mowed. The grass looks much better now that it is shorter.
However, it also makes the dry patches stand out. I need to reposition some of my sprinklers so that I can make sure that the whole yard is getting a fair share of the limited water.
Luckily the temperatures have moderated from the triple digits that were experienced while I was gone. Hopefully the temps will not go back up too much.
