Tonight I thought I would share a few books that I have acquired this month.
I will start with books that I purchased during my trip to Israel.
When we stopped for lunch one day early this week I checked out a bookstore and found a copy of the first Harry Potter book in Hebrew. With the exception of the writing, the cover looks a lot like the US edition. However, Harry is flying in the opposite direction.
I now have copies of the first Harry Potter book in eight different languages. Of course, I can’t read all of them, but it is an interesting collection.
When I travel I usually use up the last of my local currency at the book store at the airport. There were not many choices, but I did find two interesting books to buy. The first is The One-Stop Bible Atlas by Nick Page. The book is full of great maps and diagrams. It will be a good resource.
The One-Stop Bible Guide by Mike Beaumont is from the same series and has a lot of great illustrations and pictures and also contains maps and diagrams. There is some crossover between the two books, but not too much.
In the mail today I also received a book that was written by a long time friend. Franklin Pierce in Death of a Vice President is by Eric M. Hamilton. I used to teach Eric in Sunday school when I lived in Missouri and am still very good friends with his family.
This novella is a Gothic Horror Murder Mystery and is an interesting read. I am looking forward to future books in this series.
At the library book sale I picked up Dungeon, Fire, & Sword: the knights templar in the crusades by John J. Robinson. After seeing crusader and templar ruins or buildings while in Israel I decided it was a good time to pick up more information about this time period. This book is being added to one of my to-read stacks.
Now to get reading š
