Yard Work III

This afternoon I had to do a bit of yard work. The grass in the back yard was getting tall and there were a few other things I needed to do to get ready for spring.

White Blossoms, Spring, Plum BlossomsBefore I left for the library today I took some pictures of the blossoms on one of my trees. They are really starting to appear and I am envisioning what they will look like when all the little buds open up.

Back Yard, Lawn, Tall Grass, Bare TreeAfter taking the picture of the blossoms I stepped into my back yard and saw that mowing was definitely going to be on the program once I got back from my Saturday errands.

Mown Back Yard, Spring Yard Prep, Green Grass, Bare TreesWith the lengthening days I had enough time when I got home to mow my yard. Here you can see the end result. The grass is nice and green from the winter rains and the nice warm days we have had for the last couple of weeks.

Sprinkler System, Front Yard, February Mowing, winter lawnMy front yard does not look as nice. Since the front yard slopes to the street it did not benefit as much from the winter rains. The rain runs off to the street instead of soaking in.

After doing a bit of re-seeding and adding some fertilizer I tested out my sprinkler system to make sure it was working well. In a couple more weeks I will have to start watering on a regular schedule.

Water Droplets, Rose Leaves, Mister Lincoln Rose, Rose after wateringAnother reason for testing the sprinkler system was to reposition one of the sprinkler heads to make sure that my new Mister Lincoln rose bush gets enough water.

As you can see in the picture above it is definitely getting some water. I really like the way the drops of water look on the rose leaves.

Did you mow your lawn today?

Steven
